Personal Financial Management in a Distracting World
I. Rationale
One of the pressing concerns of the Filipinos especially during these days is financial illiteracy.
This is being manifested in the way one spends his or her resources. While some have been
intentional about managing their finances well, the others are somehow indifferent about it.
There are many factors why people cannot manage their finances well. Perhaps, some would
think, the lack of money is one big factor in the first place. But deep in our mind, are we really
intentional about starting to manage our finances now?
What should be prioritized? What are the non-negotiable expenses? How do we categorize our
spending? What is the very foundation of financial building blocks? These are just some of the
valuable questions we need to answer.
It’s time to educate ourselves. The covid-19 pandemic which lasted for years has taught us that
even the 6-month savings is not enough. It taught us that life is not just about surviving but
thriving. In a VUCA world, we should be prepared. Preparation starts now.
II. Objectives
At the end of the sessions, the participants are expected to:
- Learn the basics of personal financial management including the identification of our
